REDD+ projects in Brazil are strategically located within the arc of deforestation in the southern of the Amazon biome.

The Amazon, one of the world’s most biodiverse regions, houses over 3 million species, supported by a rich diversity of over 2,500 tree species.

Given the critical importance of conserving this biodiversity hot-spot, Ecológica Earth’s REDD+ projects assume a pivotal role.

The arc of deforestation is used to describe the crescent-shaped area where activities like the expansion of agriculture, logging, and cattle ranching are most intense and have a substantial impact on the Amazon Rainforest.

ABC Norte REDD

The primary objective of the ABC Norte REDD Project is to prevent unplanned deforestation (AUD) within the 140.432 ha project area, which consists entirely of Amazon rainforest.

Feijó REDD+ Project

The Feijó REDD+ Project aims to prevent unplanned deforestation (AUD: 27,248 ha, APD: 5,094 ha) in 100% Amazon rainforest. It expands social actions in local communities, contributing significantly to conserving Northwest Amazonia's biodiversity and regulating climate in Brazil and South America. Amid threats from agricultural expansion, cattle ranching, and illegal activities, the project plays a crucial role in preserving the standing forest and essential ecosystem services.

The Boa Fé REDD Project in Apuí, southern Amazon, aims to curb unplanned deforestation in the Brazilian Arc of Deforestation. Owned by NRD Desenvolvimento de Recursos Naturais, it competes with lucrative land-use options through Verified Carbon Unit sales. Surrounded by Conservation Units, it contributes to regional biodiversity and ecosystem conservation.

AGROCORTEX REDD PROJECT

The Agrocortex REDD Project aims to prevent unplanned deforestation in the 186,219.06-ha Amazon rainforest area spanning the states of Acre and Amazonas. Through a certified Sustainable Forest Management Plan (SFMP), endorsed by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the project employs reduced-impact logging to minimize environmental impacts. Increased surveillance enhances forest conservation, while SFMP implementation adds economic value.
